District high-density operation in Springs a success, with 25 arrest

High-density operations conducted by Springs SAPS and other stakeholders on Saturday saw the arrest of 25 people.

The Springs SAPS left no stone unturned when they conducted a district high-density operation on August 11, between 17:00 and 02:00, in various parts of Springs.

Some of the parts of Springs that were visited by the officers were the Paul Kruger Highway, the Springs CBD, Selcourt and Welgadacht.

The operation was conducted in partnership with Gauteng Crime Prevention, the EMPD, CPF, and local security companies.

Successes from the operation yielded seven traffic fines and 25 arrests, which include drunken driving, possession of drugs, possession of a dangerous weapon, drunk in public, contravening a protection order, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and undocumented persons.

The actions during the operation included stop-and-searches, vehicle checkpoints, compliance inspections, visits to liquor outlets and patrols in and around public areas.

SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala said the operation is ongoing and aims to ensure that members of the community are protected and feel safe.
