Mandela Day brings joy to children’s home

The Modderbee, Nigel, and Devon Departments of Correctional Services management spent 67 minutes and more giving back to the St Martin Drop-In Centre.

St Martin Drop-In Centre in Endicott opened its doors on Mandela Day to officials from the Modderbee, Nigel, and Devon departments of correctional services.

The officials, and some parolees, did their 67 minutes by renovating the home, including installing new kitchen shelves, fixing drainage systems, and painting and cutting grass at the centre.

They also donated groceries, clothes and school uniforms.

The centre was repainted.

The touching dedication did not go unnoticed by centre project manager Gugu Moncho, who expressed her gratitude for their work.

“Their commitment to making this day successful will never be forgotten.”

During their visit, the officials identified 10 underprivileged children in the community to whom they would donate school uniforms and groceries for their families.
