Springs hammers Brakpan

CCC Brakpan Rugby Club suffered a 57-5 loss at the hands of Springs.

While a spot in the semi-finals of the Valke League is secured, CCC Brakpan Rugby Club know they have to improve a lot if they are to come anywhere close to winning the competition.

The local side took a 57-5 hammering at the hands of rivals Springs at the Bosman Stadium on Saturday.

It was ugly to watch from Brakpan’s point of view when the visitors ran in six tries in the first half. The match was virtually over when Springs was 38-0 at halftime.

The reigning champions continued to pile misery on Brakpan’s young side when they scored three more tries in the second period of the game.

Brakpan will face Springs again in the semi-finals, and they know they have their work cut out for them.

They take on Vereeniging in an away match this weekend and will want to put on an improved performance.
It will be interesting to see how they react.

A loss like this could hurt, but Brakpan would do well to remember they have a young side that will improve in years to come.

This defeat will test their character, and how they bounce back will be telling.

Chairperson Harry Nieuwenhuis recently told the Brakpan Herald that “slowly but surely, they are gelling quite well” when talking about the players and the coaching staff. This will likely continue for the next few seasons, and this loss will be seen as part of the growth process.
