Hijacking in Never Never

No suspects have yet been arrested.

A 59-year-old man from Eastvale was hijacked on June 13 in Never Never informal settlement while travelling home.

The man was driving his cream-white Toyota Hilux at 17:30 to deliver paraffin to the area when an armed man approached him from the opposite direction.

“When the armed man came toward him, he pointed a firearm at the victim. Ten two other men appeared from the driver’s side and pulled him out of his car,” said the Springs SAPS spokesperson, Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.

“They pushed him to a nearby field, searched him and found his cellphone and money.”

Tshabalala added that the armed men tied up the victim with his shoelaces and forced him to lie face down as they drove off with his vehicle.

“He was able to free himself and make his way to the police station,” he said.

No arrests have yet been made.
