Nicole ‘Lil Miss Feisty’ van Wyk is the first female fighter from House of Tinkerbell to go pro.

The 20-year-old walked away victorious from her debut professional fight at the Extreme Fighting Championship in Johannesburg last Thursday.

The Springs resident dominated Felista Mugo, from Kenya, in their straw-weight fight.

“It was one of the most amazing feelings I have ever experienced. I took coach JP’s advice to take in every moment, like the smell of the cage, the feeling of being in the cage and everything in between as it was a day in my life I will never forget.

“I tried to savour every moment of that experience and will always be thankful for the opportunity,” she explained.

Lil Miss Feisty got her nickname because she has never been afraid to fight with the boys at her gym.

“I have always been interested in the sport, but my dad and Ronda Rousy sparked the true passion I have for MMA today,” she added.

She says she has been working on herself for the last six years.

“I try my best to train six days a week, if not then from Monday to Friday. I have a very active lifestyle and also enjoy active rest days.

“I believe that if you want something with all of your heart and it is a part of the journey God wants you to take, you won’t need encouragement or motivation, only discipline.

“Discipline is a key to success, and when you surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams as much as you do, it becomes even easier,” she said.

Van Wyk believes that women all around the world can benefit from any sort of skill that will help them defend themselves.

“I also know that this specific sport is not for every lady out there. However, if a girl has an interest in MMA, I would encourage them to chase the dream,” she added.

She said she would love to fight against Crystal van Wyk next.
