The Springs Central Scout Hall in Casseldale was broken into over the long weekend.

“We are unsure of which day this happened as our alarm system did not go off. They also pulled it off the wall and broke it,” explained troop Scouter, Melissa Campbell.

The group only realised on Wednesday that they had been robbed.

“The kitchen, bathroom, office and patrol crones have been trashed. It seems as if they came through a bathroom window,” she added.

The thugs made off with most of the equipment that the Scouts use on camps.

“They have taken all our taps, broken the bathroom basin, microwaves, kettles, urns, gas burner, gas bottles, pipes, geyser and paints,” said Campbell.

She said the NPO does not have the financial muscle to replace the goods.

“We do have a fundraiser coming up the May 31 at Rocomama’s Springs Mall where the Scouts will shadow the waiters. The funds raised will go to securing and replacing the most important equipment so we can carry on teaching the youth skills.

“We do our best to teach and keep youth safe but it is not without its challenges. We ask the community’s support at our fundraiser and if there is anyone out there that can help in any way we will appreciate it so much.”
