Order restored after patient outburst at N17 Hospital
Patient causes harm to others in violent outburst.
The Netcare N17 Hospital confirmed there was an unexpected violent outburst by a patient on Wednesday afternoon.
“A patient admitted for medical care was transferred to an appropriate facility after apparently becoming disorientated and violent towards two patients and the unit manager,” said Joan Selebogo, nursing manager of Netcare N17 Hospital.
“We are grateful that no one was seriously injured and can only offer our apologies to those affected before we could contain this unexpected situation in the shortest possible time.
“Medical attention, counselling from a team including a clinical psychologist and all possible support have been provided to the individuals concerned,” added Selebogo.

She said once the patient was calm, they transferred the individual to an appropriate healthcare facility for further care.
“The SAPS have been informed and we offer our full co-operation to the authorities if needed.
“While security measures are in place to act swiftly in such circumstances, hospitals must remain conducive to healing environments,” Selebogo concluded.
