Bakerton’s Muslim community is among thousands to benefit from King Salman’s Humanitarian Aid and Relief initiative

This aid comes within the relief and humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its official humanitarian to provide food security in many countries around the world.

Serving disadvantaged communities, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief (KS Relief) distributed food hampers on April 15 to the Muslim community in Bakerton.

Approximately 400 food hampers were distributed to the beneficiaries after they were chosen based on recommendations from local community leaders to provide the underprivileged with food security.

The food hampers contained essential food items to suffice a household for up to a month. The initiative comes after the KS Relief Centre inaugurated the Ramadan Food Basket project in South Africa on March 28.

The food hampers were a joy to many families.

“It was in the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to SA, Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Anqari, local representatives, and a team from KS Relief at the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Pretoria,” said Bilal Siraj.

Al-Anqari deemed the initiative a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Muslims in SA in order to express their solidarity, brotherhood, and empathy during Ramadan.

It is hoped that this initiative will bring some ease to the thousands of disadvantaged families who are experiencing daily challenges in securing their next meal due to financial and other constraints.
