X destroys opponent for championship

Local MMA star aims for world title.

Peace ‘X’ Nguphane came out of the cage victorious on Thursday night at the EFC Performance Institute in Johannesburg.

The three times welterweight champ went head-to-head with Given Majuba.

“The guy came out hard and aggressive from the beginning, which I did not expect because that is not how he usually starts.

“But I just stayed calm and composed,” explains Nguphane.

He admits that he had to improvise and adjust his original strategy.

“I took the onslaught for a little bit but I believed that I was better than him on the ground.

“When I got the opportunity I took him to the ground and gave him everything I had.

“Eventually the referee had to stop the match to save his life,” he added.

Nguphane won the match by technical knockout due to strikes, after three minutes and 23 seconds.

“Any fight that takes me to a title fight is a fight that I look forward to,” said Nguphane.

In his next fight, Nguphane may face off with the current champion.

Peace ‘X’ Nguphane gave Given Majuba no place to hide once he had him on the ground.

“Then straight to the world title before the end of the year. That is really what I want in the short term,” he said.

The mixed martial arts fighter trains at House of Tinkerbell under the watchful eye of JP Kruger.

“Without that man, a lot of things in my career would not happen the way they have.

“I am grateful to have all these people behind me. Shout out to ProLegue Management and Light House Community Centre for all their prayers,” he concluded.
