In an effort to beat the male and female record, participants ran, jogged, and walked the distance on Saturday while claiming; two new personal records.

Come rain or shine, parkrunners conquer the course.

Twenty-seven parkrunners set off on a drizzly early-autumn Saturday morning at the Springs parkrun at Presidents Park.

On the semi-double-lap 5km course, 14 volunteers assisted, 16 male and 11 female parkrunners, including three first-timers, participated.

Barry Sweetman’s record of 23:10 and Mirelle Matthews’ time of 31:38 are the best times for men and women this week, respectively.

The event’s director, Marius Jonker, gave a heartfelt thanks to all the parkrunners and walkers, sponsors Discovery Vitality and Brooks, and all volunteers who helped make this weekly event a big success.

The Springs parkrun is held every Saturday at 08:00. Entrance is free.
