Help The Harvest Project

The NPO provides over 5 000 meals to children every month.

Residents can help provide for people in need by supporting The Harvest Project.

The Brakpan-based NPO is a mobile relief unit which enters harsh environments to uplift the oppressed, especially children and animals.

The project joins forces with other organisations and institutes within the area to find solutions to improve the lives of the most vulnerable.

The Harvest Project’s main objective is to teach children how to harvest their own food and learn sustainable life skills to be able to survive off the land.

The project opens its centre every day within the grounds of the Brakpan Shul, which has been converted into a heritage museum and an equality centre in memory of the Jewish community of Brakpan.

The centre also has an educational facility, Blessings Eco Preparatory School, which provides 87 learners with free education.

It offers schooling from Grade RRR to Grade Two and hopes to progress to Grade Three next year as the children it aids cannot attend public schools.

The centre provides all its learners with three nutritious meals a day, five days a week, which is 1 305 meals a week or 5 220 meals per month.

The project also helps the United Hebrew Institute maintain and protect the Brakpan Jewish Cemetery.

Members of the community who would like to help the organisation continue its work can assist through donations.

A monthly donation of R500 will allow the project to obtain 20kg sugar, 30kg maize meal and 9kg gas.

The banking details are FNB, The Harvest Project NPO and account number 62822545044.
