City of Ekurhuleni invites local businesses to a training session

The training aims to ensure stakeholders are aligned with the changes to avoid possible rejection.

The City of Ekurhuleni invites local businesses to a training session on the new Preferential Procurement Regulation of 2022 that became effective on January 16.

The most notable change to the regulation is the replacement of the broad-based black economic empowerment status-level contributor with specific goals. As a result, points will now be allocated based on the transformative goals listed in the tender document.

This latest development has necessitated the city to update its supply chain management policy and introduce a framework for specific goals.

These goals are meant to increase the participation of the previously marginalised in the local economy through the city’s procurement process without directly excluding any citizen of the country.

The training will ensure all stakeholders are aligned with the changes to avoid possible rejection during the procurement process.

The supplier development training sessions will be held as follows:
• March 14, 09:00: Germiston, Clinic Auditorium Civic Centre

• March 15, 09:00: Kempton Park City Hal;

• March 16, 09:00: Benoni, Actonville Community Hall

People affected by this change are encouraged to attend the sessions so they are empowered with information that will assist them in doing business with the city in future.
