Lesiba Mmotlana conquers Sasol Marathon and Randburg Pirates road race

Leading a healthy lifestyle is good for all races and ages.

Lesiba Mmotlana (37) is a passionate athlete who runs for the Correctional Services Athletics Club.

The prison official from Wright Park developed an avid interest and love for running in 2012.

“I enjoy road running and it helps me to maintain healthy living,” he says

This past weekend Lesiba ran two races.

“I ran the Sasol Secunda Marathon on Saturday. It was a 42km road race, which I finished in 03:04.

“On Sunday, I ran my second race, the Randburg Pirates of 21km. I finished that race in 1:35.”

Lesiba mentions the secret to his success is maintaining a healthy lifestyle, doing rigorous indoor strength training and following a well-balanced diet.

He also adds that he is where he is because of his unwavering support system.

“I have a partner that gives me steadfast support with my running and together we have a beautiful boy who turns eight in March,” exclaims Lesiba.

He calls on others to join in and lead healthier lifestyles.

“I would also love to see more Ekurhuleni residents join running and participate in sports.”
