Striders Athletics Club held their annual road race on Sunday at Veritas Senior College. Athletes, volunteers and spectators were waiting in anticipation as the race was about to start.
The weather was favourable and gradually became warmer as the day proceeded.
The Springs Boys High Band serenaded the crowd before the start of the race with an upbeat song.
The events were divided into 32km, 15km, 5km and a Toddler’s race.
Stalls from different athletics groups and local businesses were lined up along the school’s sports field in support and to also offer food and refreshments to the participants and spectators.
Athletes enjoyed a relaxing sports massage post-race by professional therapists.

Striders Athletics Club participate in a weekly run and cycle challenge. Participants meet at the Riverfield Shopping Centre and post office in Petersfield, every Tuesday evening at 17:45.
