Springs Taxi Association takes action against nyaope addicts

Citizens are advised to stay calm amid the activities that are going on in the Springs CBD.

Springs CBD is on fire as members of the Springs Taxi Association have taken action against the nyaope addicts in the town.

It is said they have decided to take these actions as they are tired of drug addicts littering the streets.

Ward 75 Clr Charmaine Kock has advised everyone to stay calm and not to create chaos.

“It is not a protest or a strike. The association is cleaning up Springs of the addicts by burning all their stuff. After speaking to them they stopped. A truck from waste removal is now assisting them in their endeavours,” she said.

SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala confirmed that the police were deployed to handle the situation. No arrests have been made yet.
