MachKnitZ donates 64 hand-knitted toys

In celebrating its 4th anniversary, MachKnitz handover 64 hand knitted toys to Helpende Hand: Heidelberg.

MachKnitZ celebrated the end of its successful year and fourth anniversary by donating 64 handmade toys to Helpende Hand Heidelberg.

This comes after Adri Grib, from the NPO saw on social media that Helpende Hand Heidelberg had a shoe box initiative.

“With their current project running, I thought it would be great to donate them to give to children.

“Each of our toys was handmade with love and care for the children who will be receiving them,” said Adri.

The local NPO had its volunteers knit the toys from materials that were packaged for each of them.

“They all received wrapped boxes that had scrap wool, buttons and patterns for them to use for the handmade toys,” said Adri.

A regular volunteer who stood out for Adri was Annelize Swanepoel, a blind knitter who hand-knitted some of the toys.

MachKnitZ is the hand that gives past the local borders, as they donated over 200 blankets this year to an organisation in Krugersdorp.

“We’re still busy collecting more blankets that we’ll be handing over to 67 Blankets as they sponsor us with some of the wool we are using,” said Adri.

MachKnitZ is looking forward to more knitting as they have a lot of plans for the new year ahead.
