ATM bombing on Paul Kruger Highway

The ATM on South Main Reef and Paul Kruger Highway was bombed on Tuesday morning.

Springs SAPS confirmed an ATM bombing took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Engen Rowhill on South Main Reef and Paul Kruger Highway.

According to Springs police spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, a group of armed men wearing balaclavas walked inside the petrol station shop.
“They forced the petrol station employees to the toilet and took all their belongings before locking them inside,” said Tshabalala.

“A few minutes later, the employees who were locked inside the toilet heard a loud sound coming from the front of the petrol station. The ATM was blown up and the safe was taken with an unknown amount of money.”
Tshabalala said shots were fired between the robbers and a local security company that responded first to the scene.

“The suspects fled the scene in an unknown silver motor vehicle,” he added.
No arrests have been made and the police appeal to the community to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
