EMPD arrests man for possession of suspected stolen goods

The EMPD are cracking down on crime this festive season.

On Sunday evening, EMPD Bronberg precinct officers arrested a man for possession of suspected stolen goods.

The EMPD officers, who were on high alert within Dersley Park in the Springs area following complaints of house robberies and break-ins, noticed suspicious movement at a certain house on Zircon Avenue and proceeded to search the premises.

The officers found a 48-year-old male, who had a door frame in his possession. The suspect was asked about the door frame and there was no clear explanation.

A house owner who was not around was traced and he confirmed that the person inside his premises, who has the door frame worth R500, is unknown to him.

The victim, who has a case number from Springs Police Station, further explained that he has become a target because previously, thieves stole copper pipes and electrical wiring material worth R10 000 from the same premises.

The suspect was detained at the Springs Police Station and is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
