UPDATE: Work is ongoing at the Springs JVA substation
The city reports the initial engineering assessment indicates the substation will be taking load today.
Work is underway at the Springs JVA substation to install a temporary roof structure.
This follows an incident where the roof collapsed as a result of bad weather during the weekend.

According to the City of Ekurhuleni, the incident left parts of the New Era industrial site without power.
The initial engineering assessment indicates that the substation will be taking load today.

“Water has been drained from the switch room and the vacuuming of the switchgear is now underway,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.
“The next step will be to conduct electrical tests before the power can be restored,” said Dlamini.
