Ekurhuleni social workers ready to assist victims of GBV at customer centres

Victims may now contact or visit their nearest GBV customer service centre.

The City of Ekurhuleni will on November 25 join the world in observing 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children.

In lending a hand to the fight against GBV, the city urges victims of GBV and other residents in distress to use social workers available at customer care centres (CCC) across Ekurhuleni.

The 16 Days campaign runs until December 10. The theme for this year is ‘Socio-Economic Rights and Empowerment to Build Women’s Resilience Against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide: Connect, Collaborate, Contract!’.

The city strongly condemns any acts of violence and given the scourge of GBV in the country. The city works closely with civil society and non-profit organisations to ensure no violence throughout the year.
The social work services are available free of charge at the city’s CCCs include:

• Individual counselling
• Victim empowerment counselling
• Shelter placements
• Couples counselling
• Family preservation and counselling service
