Reverend Dinnie commemorates her 30th anniversary of ordination

Reverend Sharron was celebrated on Sunday by family, friends, staff and congregants for having reached a 30-year milestone in ministry.

Reverend Sharron Dinnie, the founder of Kwasa College Pre and Primary School, organised the commemoration on October 30 as part of a church service at Chapel-of-the-Cross celebrating 30 years of her ordination.

She was ordained on November 6, 1992.

The celebration was to give praise and thanks for the privilege of being able to minister for 30 years.

Dinnie says from the age of eleven she felt deeply connected, and her story was that of a girl who followed a vocation that was expected to be followed by a boy.

“That vocation never went away. I did things that were unexpected for women to do. Being the second woman to be ordained was a special moment for me, and it enabled me to break boundaries,” she said.

“I look at the number of lives that I have touched throughout the years, and that humbles me. I’ve had the privilege to work with people from all walks of life and got to witness how their lives have changed.”

“I’m blessed with an incredible support structure and I’m glad that I’ll leave a legacy that will be well looked after,” said Dinnie.

One of the joys that Sharron was able to experience as a reverend was being able to marry her sons and baptise her grandchildren.

“Those moments were very precious and special to me,” she said.

Dinnie said her aim has always been to provide a nurturing environment for children to grow in.

Vumani Khumalo and Monwabisi Mohobaledi, who grew in her hands, are grateful for the love that she has shown to them and their families from a young age.

“I am where I am because of Mother Sharron and I don’t think it would have been possible without her guidance,” said Vumani.
