Last bowls for Emma’s Springs Fever Trip

Springs Town Bowling Club member Tokkie Hattingh says the past five weeks have been successful and everyone who participated is looking forward to next year's Springs Fever Trips.

The Springs Town Bowling Club held its last Emma’s Springs Fever Trip and prize-giving to celebrate bowlers who worked hard during the five-week-long competitions.

The competitions, held every year between September and November, attract bowlers from all over Ekurhuleni.

“There were good teams and players from other towns who came to support the competition,” said Tokkie Hattingh, a club member.

“Everyone outside of Springs saw on our social media posts that we’re running competitions and they reached out. Through them, I was able to get 22 teams playing in the competition this year. I’m very grateful for everyone who supports Springs Town Bowling Club.”

The bowling teams that took over the Domenico Ragusa A green and Johnny Lotter B green gathered in high spirits as they awaited the prize-giving ceremony and a closing-off celebration.

Three teams were awarded for having accumulated the most points throughout the five-week competition.

Benoni Lake Club took first place, followed by Brakpan Mines Bowling Club in second place, and Boksburg Bowling Club in third.

Hattingh said it was a rather emotional closing ceremony as they paid tribute to Emma Ragusa, a member who passed away in July.
