Cops seize drugs worth R1.2m

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, drugs with a value of approximately R1.2 million were seized.

A 64-year-old man was arrested on the R555 Springs off-ramp on Monday after being found in possession of about 5kg of crystal meth worth R1.2m.

Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala said the man was nabbed following an operation led by the South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau members of the East Rand and Vaal, as well as the EMPD K9 Unit.

“The officers stopped a blue Ford Ranger bakkie that was loaded with oranges,” said Tshabalala.

“Upon conducting a search of the bakkie, they discovered the bags of drugs hidden under the fruit.”

The man was detained at the Springs SAPS.
