15 years for murder at party

Police recovered the firearm which was used in the commission of the crime when the suspect was arrested

The Benoni Magistrate’s Court recently sentenced John Lebese to 15 years’ imprisonment for fatally shooting Fanie Dludlu in October last year at a social event in Emaphupheni, Etwatwa.

According to Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Khensani Mathebula, Lebese sat on the bonnet of Dludlu’s car and the two argued when Dludlu removed Lebese from the car.

“During the argument, Lebese disarmed Dludlu of his firearm and shot him with it. Police and the EMPD traced and arrested the suspect.

“During Lebese’s arrest, the firearm used in the commission of the crime was recovered. Through investigations, led by Detective Sergeant Phaswane Mahlokoane, it was established that the firearm belonged to a security company in Limpopo and was stolen from a security guard in their employment last year,” said Mathebula.

Etwatwa SAPS station commander Colonel Molatelo Maoto applauded Mahlokoane for securing a conviction.
