Six Springs Central Scouts learn leadership skills

Scouts equipped with new skills.

Scouts at Springs Central Air Group participated in the Gauteng Leadership Development Course Level 1 (LDC 1) on July 16.
The LDC 1 is leadership training where East Rand troops get together to acquire new leadership and skills.
Springs Central Air Group was represented by Bayden Erasmus, Matthew Burger, Tadisa Mugobera, Kendra Fourie, Samuel van de Griendt and Heinrich van der Merwe who had a successful training session.
During the training, the Scouts learned how to plan a patrol camp.
“They also learnt pioneering skills and how to keep patrol active and excited for scouts every week,” says Troop Scouter Melissa Campbell.

Melissa explained the training helps the Scouts to become better leaders, not only in Scouts but in school and when they become adults.
“The training guides them in planning for activities with their patrols too,” she said.
The six invested Scouts will soon be attending the LDC 2 where they will be acquiring additional scouting skills.
The Scouts moral code is that they must do their best in everything that they do.
“They should give their best which means every Scout is a good Scout because they give their best from the skills they’ve acquired. The Scouts work on a threefold promise which is duty to God, the country and themselves,” said Melissa.
Springs Central will soon be hosting their fundraising events for a Rhino experience where the Scouts will learn and be able to show off their skills in the bush for the weekend.
