Vispol and the crime prevention unit have been hard at work since the beginning of July.
Springs SAPS station commander Brigadier Thembeka Gwebushe created a new crime prevention unit that was effective from July 1.
Soon after their appointment, the team arrested four men in Endicott at the four-way stop.
“The area is a hijacking hot spot. The men were in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” explained Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
Upon further investigation, the men were linked to business robberies and hijackings.

“They were driving a silver Grey Polo,” added Tshabalala.
In another incident, a white Polo VW was seen driving around Springs CBD with five male occupants.
“The police members stopped the car and found it was linked to an open case number. Upon searching the car, equipment, suspected to be used in house break-ins, was found,” added Tshabalala.
It was discovered that the men were sought for several business break-ins. Some stolen property from three businesses was found at the men’s houses.
The station commander applauded Vispol and the crime prevention unit for a job well done in bringing the perpetrators to book.
