Ekurhuleni bus fare increase

The city had to adjust the fares in order to keep the service afloat.

City of Ekurhuleni bus fares went up by 50c per trip from July 1.

Due to ever-increasing maintenance costs and the price of fuel, the city had to adjust the fares to keep the service afloat.

“Unfortunately, the situation is beyond our control. Everyone can agree that the standard of living is becoming more expensive each day, and so are maintenance costs.
“Understanding this, we are implementing a minimal increase to ensure the fleet remains in good condition for the ease of movement of our people between their homes and their various destinations and places of work,” explained city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

The last time the city increased the bus fare was in July 2019.
