House robbed while parents were away

The victim and his wife claim they left their house at 07:00, leaving their two daughters aged five and 11 at home.

An Eastvale couple discovered valuables missing after they returned home on Monday evening.
The victim and his wife claim they left their house at 07:00, leaving their two daughters aged five and 11 at home.
“They locked the outside gate. When they arrived at home at about 18:00 to 18:30, the children reported that they heard something that did not sound right and ran to their bedroom,” explained Sergeant Themba Tshabalala.
The girls said a man followed them with a knife in his hand and asked them where the adults were.
“When the children said the adults were not home the man asked them for cellphones and laptops. They could not answer him.

“They had a cellphone in the room and it was taken,” added Tshabalala.
The man allegedly also took a tablet that was in the sitting room.
“The victims unlocked their bedroom and discovered that the window was forced open. The bedroom was ransacked and a laptop valued at R12 000 was stolen.
“Some shoes and clothes were also missing,” he said.
The main gate was still locked when the parents arrived.
