Woman raped in presence of her children

One suspect has since been arrested in connection with the crime.

A 25-year-old old Everest woman was raped and robbed after two men broke into her home on Friday morning.

The victim alleges that she was asleep with her two children, aged six and three when she heard noises coming from the shack next to hers.

“She woke up and sat on her bed.

“She then heard someone pushing her door from outside but it could not open since it was locked with a padlock.

“She asked who it was but the person said she should open it if she wanted to live,” explained Sergeant Themba

Tshabalala, communications officer of Springs SAPS.

The woman then opened the door out of fear.

Two men then entered the room and demanded cash and her cellphone.

“She told them she did not have a cellphone.

“One of the suspects then disconnected the flat-screen TV and took it.

“She then gave them R160 in cash, then a suspect left,” added Tshabalala.

The other suspect remained and she asked him why he was not leaving since she gave them money and they took her TV.

He then said he wanted to have sex with her.

She told him that she is pregnant and he replied he did not care.

“He covered her kids with a blanket and proceeded to rape her.

“The ordeal lasted about 30 minutes,” said Tshabalala.

One suspect has since been arrested in connection with the crime.
