Enstra Road to open

The road was only meant to be closed until at least March 28

Councillor Charmaine Kock of Ward 75 has confirmed Enstra Road will be open on May 5.
Initially, after the metro approved for a contractor to rehabilitate a section of the road, the work was expected to take two weeks, starting on February 17.
The road was only meant to be closed until at least March 28, but the contractor faced more challenges.

“Once the contractor opened the road layers to do remedial work, they found that the entire base and underlying layers were saturated with water.
“They could not leave it open, but they imported some rock fill material to temporarily stabilise the road and closed the excavation.
“That portion of the road was temporarily gravel,” explained Kock.
The road marking was expected to be completed on May 4.
