Four arrested for kidnapping girl (4)

“After the suspects made contact with the family, negotiations began on Friday and a ransom amount was agreed on.”

Four men were arrested after receiving ransom money for a four-year-old girl who was kidnapped in Bakerton last Thursday.
“The suspects pretended to be the child’s guardian and picked her up from school.
“After the suspects made contact with the family, negotiations began on Friday and a ransom amount was agreed on,” explained Sgt Themba Tshabalala, communications officer at Springs SAPS.
The SAPS then organised surveillance around the area where the ransom would be dropped off.

“The suspects made the family drive around until they were ready to do the exchange on Sunday. Eventually, the suspects met with the family and traded the ransom money for the child.
“Once the child and her family were safe, the team of officers attempted to pull over the suspects but a high-speed chase ensued,” added Tshabalala.
The suspects were cornered and arrested.
The officers recovered the ransom cash, two unlicensed guns and ammunition.
