Man robbed of his car in driveway

A man was ambushed by robbers while he sat in his car in the driveway of his 9th Street home on Saturday night.

The victim said he parked his white Toyota Tazz outside the gate when he and his wife came back from the shops.
“They went into the house and after a few minutes the man came out again. He got into the car and then noticed two armed men outside the car.

“They threatened him, and he tried to throw the car keys over the fence. The keys hit the fence and fell onto the car’s bonnet,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
A struggle ensued and shots were fired.
“The man’s wife came out and joined the struggle to help her husband. Her right hand was injured in the process,” he added.
The robbers drove away in the victim’s car. The value of the items stolen is about R100 500.
