Driver targeted by hijackers in Selection Park

Man robbed of his vehicle and cellphones.

A 27-year-old man was hijacked as he drove his car out of a yard in Selection Park on Wednesday.
The victim claims he and his friend stopped outside a house on Tyrrell Crescent to pick up his Toyota Land Cruiser.
“When he got out of the car he saw a white Toyota Tazz with three men driving past them.
“He went into the yard with the friend. He switched on the engine and left it to idle,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.

The man then reversed out of the yard.
“He saw two men walking in his direction when he got out to close the gate. One of the men threatened him with a gun and ordered him to hand over his cellphone,” added Ramphora.
The victim gave them both his cellphones. The robbers jumped into his car and drove off.
The value of the stolen goods is about R805 200.
