College students robbed in commune

Two robbers fled with a haul of valuables.

A robber made off with cellphones and laptops after raiding a commune in Springs Extension on Tuesday night.
One of the victims said she came out of the toilet and saw two men standing in the passage.
“They pushed her into one of the rooms and demanded cellphones, laptops and money. One of the suspects was armed with a gun and the other held a knife,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.

The robbers went into the other rooms where other young women were staying and collected all the cellphones and laptops.
The victims are students at a local college. The two robbers left on foot.

The total value of the goods is estimated at R57 900.
