Delivery truck robbed of stock

The two men had just completed a delivery of milk on Main Street when they were approached by men armed with pistols.

Robbers ambushed a truck driver and his assistant in Everest on Wednesday afternoon.
The two men had just completed a delivery of milk on Main Street when they were approached by men armed with pistols.
“The robbers forced the men into the truck. Two more robbers then joined them.
“They demanded money from the victims and got R1 900,” said Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.
The robbers also made off with the driver’s cellphone valued at R6 900.

“One of the suspects drove the truck and the other suspect was on the phone with another person.
“After driving a short distance, the victims were instructed to get out of the truck and offload the stock,” added Ramphora.
The victims saw another man in a car into which they were instructed to load the stock.
“The victims were then locked inside the back of the truck. They managed to get out when someone opened the door,” said Ramphora.
The estimated value of the stolen stock is R11 100.
