SAPS operation yields positive results

The operation yielded positive results and 36 arrests were made

Members of the Springs SAPS conducted an operation on Friday from 16:00 until 02:00 on Saturday morning.
“The operation yielded positive results and 36 arrests were made,” said Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
He said the operation will be conducted every weekend to make the Springs precinct a safe environment in which to reside.

“Members of the public are warned that drinking and being drunk in public won’t be tolerated. It was established through investigation that most of the crimes committed such robberies, murder, rape and assault-related crimes, emanate from abuse of liquor.”
The station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded the members for their commitment and enthusiasm to reduce crime in Springs.
The following arrests were made: possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition 2, assault 1, assault (domestic violence) 2, theft 2, drunk in public 18, drunk driving 7, possession of drugs 4.
