Kruger back with a vengeance

"The help and support from my family really made the difference."

The evening of March 5 is a night local MMA fighter JP Kruger won’t soon forget when he stepped into the hexagon for the first time in six years and came out with a convincing win at the EFC.
Kruger’s opponent Roy Lokolo has a reputation as a strong and aggressive fighter and a lengthy encounter was expected.
Lokolo fought aggressively from the get-go and charged at Kruger who immediately countered with a jab followed by a roundhouse kick to the head.
Stifled and stunned by this response, Lokolo became unsure of himself and changed his aggressive strategy and was forced to fight more defensively.

Kruger saw this as an opening and unleashed a flurry of highly technical combos, including a spinning back kick, all of which landed exactly where he wanted them to.
After peppering him with a series of hits to the head, Lokolo was soon on the ground and locked in a rear-naked choke by Kruger and the fight ended after two minutes in the first round.
“I am very humbled by the fight. It was my first one in six years so there was a lot of pressure on me. The help and support from my family really made the difference,” said Kruger.
