Businesses remain a target for criminals in Springs

The stats, delivered by Police Minister Gen Bheki Cele last week, reveal crimes committed between October and December in 21 categories.

Springs remains a relatively dangerous place in which to run a business, according to the third quarterly national crime statistics of 2021.
The stats, delivered by Police Minister Gen Bheki Cele last week, reveal crimes committed between October and December in 21 categories.
The Springs Police Station featured in four top 30 lists.
The station recorded 23 incidences of a robbery at non-residential premises. This is a decrease from the 26 incidents recorded between October and December 2021. This landed the station in the last position of the top 30 stations for such crimes.

Springs also landed in position 19 in the truck hijacking category, with five incidents recorded. This is the same number of incidents as the third quarter of 2020.
There were 61 reported cases of burglary at non-residential premises. This is a notable decline compared to the 65 incidents during the same period in 2020.
Springs also featured in the all theft not mentioned elsewhere category with 288 incidents reported.
