Potters Haven needs help

“We don’t just keep our children. They are healed, equipped and restored.”

Potters Haven, a home for young children who have been abandoned, has been operational for 25 years and takes care of about 16 children.
Founder Marline Minni said it has been a blessing taking care of children who come to them at a very young age and watching them blossom into successful individuals.
“We don’t just keep our children. They are healed, equipped and restored.
“For 25 years we have launched about 180 children back into society. They didn’t end up another welfare case but excelled in whatever they wanted to achieve in life,” said Minni.
Many of those in their care attend and complete school and then go on to study and pursue their career of choice.
“Unfortunately, no one claims them back. Most of them come from a broken and abused background. We as foster parents adopt them and make this their home. When they matriculate, we try to help them find jobs and a place to stay,” she said.

The youngest they have at the home is three years old.
“We rely on our community, since we don’t have sponsorships. They help us because the children’s grants are not enough. We have to buy uniforms, stationery, there are medical expenses, groceries, rent, water, electricity, and two special needs children that need to be driven to school and back.
“We are grateful for any assistance when it comes to the children’s needs,” she said.
Minni and her husband and son are the ones who take care of the children. They do not have funding to hire more people.
“When God gives you an assignment, he never said it would be easy. Our passion is to make a child’s life easy and give them hope for the future.
“Anyone who would like to contribute towards anything mentioned on our Facebook page (Potters Haven) can contact us from there. We are open to any options for assistance,” she said.
