Springs SAPS conduct search at local high school

The search was carried out by sector managers, the Social Crime Prevention Unit and the communication department.


“The purpose of the search was to curb the use and selling of drugs to learners.
“The search yielded positive results when one learner was found in possession of drugs and cigarettes and a knife was seized from other leaners,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
The parents of the learner found in possession of drugs were summoned to the school and informed about the disciplinary proceedings that will follow.

“The school principal and the staff were thrilled by the initiative. This is to keep the school environment a safe place to learn and to empower learners and provide safety and security,” added Ramphora.
The Springs SAPS strives to build a partnership with all schools in and around the Springs precinct to combat any criminal activities taking place inside school premises.
