Guards tied up during robbery

Two security guards were ambushed by robbers in Daggafontein on Tuesday night.

“Suddenly he saw nine more men. They were throwing stones in his direction.

“The guards ran away and one of them fell. He was grabbed by the robbers and taken to the guard room,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of the Springs SAPS.

The other guard was also brought back to the guardroom.
“Their hands and legs were tied with shoelaces,” added Ramphora.
The robbers made off with two torches, two hand radios, 20m of cable and three cellphones.
The goods are valued at R45 000.
