Robbers make off with goods valued at over R1-m

Two security guards on duty were in the guard room when about seven men armed with guns stormed in.

Armed robbers looted a warehouse on Iron Road in New Era last Friday night.
Two security guards on duty were in the guard room when about seven men armed with guns stormed in.
“The guards were ordered not to resist. They were taken inside the warehouse,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.

The guards were also forced to help cut cables and carry goods out of the warehouse.
“After the robbery, the two guards were tied up and left unharmed,” added Ramphora.
The stolen goods included three generators, DVD screens, speakers, batteries, and alternators.
The estimated value is reported to be more than R1-million.
