Sports clothing shop robbed

An employee at the store told the police he was inside the shop in the male sales department when he saw a man standing in front of the counter.

A sports clothing shop at The Avenues Shopping Centre was robbed of thousands of rands worth of merchandise on Monday.
An employer at the store told the police he was inside the shop in the male sales department when he saw a man standing in front of the counter.
The man was wearing a black jacket and black trousers.
“The suspect grabbed the victim by the belt and threatened him with a gun. The suspect put one of his fingers on the victim’s lips and told him to keep quiet.

“The victim then realised that his colleagues were not aware of the situation,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, the communications officer of the Springs SAPS.
Another robber, wearing a reflector jacket, came into the shop with a security guard and showed him a gun.
More accomplices then entered the shop.
“They wanted the keys to the safe, but were told no one in the shop had the keys,” added Ramphora.
The robbers fled with T-shirts to the value of R2 700, a bag worth R650 and cash from the tills.
No shots were fired.
