Baby born at Springs SAPS

“She was highly pregnant and due to deliver.”

Staff at the Springs Police Station helped a woman deliver her baby on Friday night.
“The woman and husband arrived at Springs SAPS around 23:30.
“She was highly pregnant and due to deliver,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora of the Springs SAPS.
Lt-Col Mandie Davel contacted emergency services several times but an ambulance never arrived.

Lt-Col Mandie Davel could not be prouder for helping the woman deliver her baby at the Springs Police Station on Friday night.

“Due to the severity of pain of labour, the woman requested assistance.
“Davel and Sgt Zandile Mofokeng helped the woman deliver the baby inside the Springs charge office.
“Davel applied her skills to calm the woman and exercised her experience of midwifery to help the woman deliver a healthy baby girl without any injuries or complications,” he added.

The woman was immediately transported to the Far East Rand Hospital for further observation.
The station commander of Springs SAPS, Brig Thembeka Gwebushe, applauded the members for their commitment and dedication to helping and was thrilled by the excellent work of officers who went the extra mile to save the life of an innocent soul.

The woman was transported to the Far East Rand Hospital after she gave birth in the charge office of the Springs Police Station.

“She emphasised that the baby is a festive gift for Springs SAPS and members are preparing to offer a Christmas gift to the parents.
“It is the first time in the history of Springs SAPS that such a miracle has occurred,” said Ramphora.
