The Springs SAPS is investigating a case of murder after the police received a complaint at Slovo Park on Sunday.
Upon arrival at the scene, they found the lifeless body of a 26-year-old female on the floor.
“A 30-year-old male was present and was identified as the victim’s boyfriend. He related to the police that the night before the incident he did not sleep at home.
“He claims he arrived at 08:00 and found his girlfriend lying on the floor and the house was full of rainwater.
“She had a live electric cable in her hands,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.

Upon further investigation, the members who attended the scene heard allegations that the boyfriend had previously physically abused the deceased.
“The man was the questioned and he claimed he slept at his friend’s place,” added Ramphora.
He was arrested on the scene.
Springs SAPS station commander Brig Thembeka Gwebushe applauded community members for giving information to the police.
She expressed sadness to the fact that a woman is killed during the period of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign, despite so many interventions done by the SAPS and other stakeholders to address the scourge of GBV and femicide.
