Residents deserve consistent service delivery, says Stone

I started as an activist and I later became a councillor in Springs in 2006,” said Stone.

Dean Stone remains the Ward 72 councillor in Springs and has been a councillor for 15 years.
“I got involved in politics and the Democratic Alliance in 2004. I started as an activist and I later became a councillor in Springs in 2006,” said Stone.
“I decided to get involved in politics because I believe in the DA’s values and principles of freedom, fairness, opportunity and diversity.
“I also felt that I can make a difference in the community and give residents a voice in the council,” explained Stone.
Ward 72 has a diverse community with numerous challenges.

Stone said service delivery needs to be prioritised in the ward.
“As it stands, Gugulethu and Everest residents are in desperate need of housing. Bakerton, Rowhill, Dersley and Eastvale residents are experiencing continuous power outages and erratic water supply.
“Refuse removal and basic services are currently at an all-time low in Ward 72,” he added.
Stone believes that his 15 years of experience in serving in local government will assist him in serving the residents of Ward 72.
“I will use the skills and knowledge I have obtained from dealing with residents and the metro to better the lives of the residents.
“The residents of Ward 72 need a councillor who will be there to assist and support them, and I am ready to serve.
“I also want to bring new projects to the area by including them in the ward’s Integrated Development Plan,” he said.
Stone believes that Springs has a unique and diverse community that he is passionate about.
“Springs residents deserve consistent service delivery and job opportunities. Springs is an industrial hub and the town has the potential to play a pivotal role in creating job opportunities for the youth of Ekurhuleni.
“During this term, I will mainly concentrate on getting the basics right and ensuring that the residents get the services that they are paying for.”
