Woman locks herself in bedroom during house robbery

The homeowner was asleep when she was awakened by her dogs barking in her bedroom.

A Dersley Park resident was robbed in her home in the early hours of Monday morning.

“She saw a torch shining into the room and there was a man with a firearm. She jumped up and pushed the door back, locked it and pressed the alarm button.

“She then ran to the window, screaming for help,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.
An elderly man, who rents a room from the owner, came from his room and was confronted by two intruders.
“One of the suspects was carrying a TV, which had been mounted to a wall. The suspects did not talk and left through the back door,” added Ramphora.
The value of the TV is approximately R4 000.
