Police encourage residents to speak out on GBV

As part of their build-up to the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women campaign, the Springs police and other stakeholders recently visited the Everest informal settlement to educate residents on the issue of gender-based violence (GBV).
The Springs Social Crime Prevention Unit, sector managers, CPF patrollers, Youth Desk, the NGOs Strong Voice and Hlasimpho, and McDonalds joined the police in their mission.

Among other things, they stressed the importance of reporting incidents of domestic abuse when they see it.
Community members who have reported crimes and are not satisfied with the case’s progress were also requested to provide police with the case numbers.
They were also encouraged to work with the police in catching perpetrators to ensure justice is carried out.
