Parcels stolen from hijacked delivery vehicle

The vehicle's 60-year-old driver was delivering a parcel at an address along 4th Street when he was confronted by two men.

A delivery vehicle hijacked in the Springs CBD on Sunday was found abandoned shortly afterwards with all its parcels stolen.

“When he went to the passenger’s seat to collect the parcel, he felt someone touching him. He turned and saw two men, one was armed.
“They demanded the car keys,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs SAPS.
The victim ran from the scene and threw away the keys to the vehicle, an Isuzu bakkie.
“They took his cellphone worth R1 600 and drove off in the vehicle,” added Ramphora.
The bakkie was later found abandoned along GilGil Street in Pollak Park.
