Eastern Springs Local Football Association hosted a year-end function at their grounds in Slovo on Saturday.
Secretary of Eastern Springs Local Football Association Sydwell Makhwiting said the event was a success and many teams were crowned.
“We hosted the year-end function of the Eastern Springs Local Association. There was 18 teams made up from u-11 to u-17 soccer players. The purpose of the event was to show people we do have football in our area,” said Makhwiting.
They had all the games in one area and all the teams played and were awarded trophies.
“Our grand prizes were medals and trophies for the winners. There was no money issued for the teams but food and refreshments were offered to all the teams,” he said.
Makhwiting said they will be starting the next season in January and hope lockdown won’t stand in their way like this year.

“The tournament has been there for years, but the old management made mistakes and could not be accountable for their actions when it came to the association. It was mismanaged and we had to step in to keep the ball rolling for the association,” he said.
He told the Advertiser for the next season, they are hoping to have sponsorship for all the tournaments they will be hosting because everything they do comes out of their own pocket.
“Anyone who wishes to sponsor us with anything for all the teams will be much appreciated. We cannot do everything on our own, but we are open to any assistance at the association,” he said.
